A magnificent Double Quick Day-Date offered as a german full set with blue “Vignette” or degradé diamond dial.
The case is in excellent condition, with full lugs, sharp edges and a great matte finish. While there are signs of wear, nothing distracts from the watch’s beauty.
The exceptional quality of the case is further highlighted by the remarkably well-preserved caseback sticker.
The visual highlight is undoubtedly the stunning and rare “Vignette” (or *degradé*) dial. These dials feature a color gradient that starts light in the center and darkens towards the edges—a great effect that looks simply magical on the wrist. Incidentally, these dials were produced using a process similar to that of the “Stella” dials; they feature a much thicker layer of lacquer, which is particularly evident around the day aperture, where the lacquer appears beautifully rich and voluminous.
The dial is in perfect condition: no damage to the lacquer and all lume dots are beautifully intact.
The hands are equally top, showing a patina that harmonizes perfectly with the dial.
The bezel is perfectly sharp.
This magnificent Day-Date comes as a wonderful full set from Germany. It has been sold in June 1998 by rolex authorized dealer Von Hofen in Stuttgart (Country Code 100). The scope of delivery is truly impressive, including the original box (with 18238 stickers) and both booklets.
The 8385 President bracelet matches the watch’s exceptional quality. It shows no stretch, features a perfectly intact crown on the clasp and comes with all 24 links. The clasp code is V8 (August 1996) confirming it is the original bracelet for the watch.
