Description: Incredible 1680 Maxi Submariner MK1 with PUMPKIN patina
The case is in great condition. Polished in the course of a Rolex Geneva service, it shows full lugs, great edges and a very nice matt finish on the top of the case. Signs of wear are minimal, but no deep scratches, dents or anything like that.
The highlight and it really is a highlight, is the absolutely magical Maxi MK1 Submariner dial with an incredibly good patina. As the pictures show, the lume has aged to a perfect dark tone, a so-called PUMPKIN or pumpkin patina, as the color is similar to the peel of a pumpkin.
In addition to the coloring, the wonderful waffle print on the lume material is also wonderful. The dial is of course also in perfect condition with no weaknesses. Simply beautiful.
The hands are original, in excellent condition and with a patina that matches the dial almost perfectly.
The bezel is sharp and the inlay is another highlight of this watch. After Rolex Geneva gave the watch an ugly service inlay in 2008, I dug up this wonderful KISS4 inlay from my archives and installed it on the watch. No retailer actually does that, something like that without a watch brings in more money, but here it just had to be. I mean, a watch with a service inlay just isn’t what a collector wants.
By the way, these inlays are called KISS4 because the 4 out of 40 kisses are zero. Rare, great and also worth a small car in terms of price, even if it is still in used form.
This incredibly good watch pleases its new owner with service papers from Rolex Geneva from 2008. Warranty card and also a copy of the original invoice are included.
The 93150 Oyster bracelet has also been replaced as part of the service. It is in nearly perfect condition with alsmost no stretch and minimal wear and wears perfectly.
Fazit: Eine Uhr mit einer Farbgebung die ich noch gesehen habe. Kräftig, warm, ein Ton zum Verlieben.
