Beautiful manual-wound Daytona with BIG RED PANDA dial. The case of this vintage beauty is in excellent condition. Polished once in the past, it shows full lugs, great edges and a top matt finish on the top of the case. There are a few signs of wear, but this is the case you would want for a vintage Daytona, authentic! The wonderful PANDA BIG RED dial is in great condition. Wonderfully clear print, great sunray cut and a strong red Daytona lettering. The subdials are wonderfully clean and have no weaknesses. The lume dots have come off a bit in one or two places, but this is standard and doesn’t bother us in real life at all. In the course of my career as a collector and dealer (the first Vintage Sub came in 2007 ^^) I noticed that Rolex has repeatedly changed the dial of the 6263 Panda slightly. Here we have a very late 6263, which has a noticeably whiter dial than the earlier variants. These were more silvery in tone except for another period when the dials became creamier. All in all, I like the lighter white as it’s presented here on this beautiful 6263, because it emphasizes the subdials and the Daytona lettering again. The watch comes with the correct MK3 Bakelite inlay and MK3 pushers, as installed in this series. It is also nice that the original box and the two descriptions have been preserved. There are also two invoices delivered with the watch. An invoice dates from 2015 and relates to a purchased bracelet link. However, the second bill is much more exciting, because it comes from 2019 by rolex auhtorized dealer Juwelier Depperich. Depperich has checked the watch completely and has clearly established that the movement is in excellent condition, the watch does not require an inspection and is also water-resistant! The watch comes on a 78350 Oyster bracelet with 571 lugs. Clasp code is H for 83/84 and this is 100% the original bracelet. Manual-wound Daytonas weren’t really demanded in the 80s, so Rolex sometimes pre-produced parts for years in order to get the necessary number of pieces.
Conclusion: BIG RED PANDA with a lot of German provenance. A watch that is not often found these days.
