Description: Early, extremely rare 6240 Paul Newman Daytona with MK0 millerighi pushers and 71N lugs. The 6240 Daytona is the rarest variant of all screw-down manual-wind Daytonas. It was the first model with screw-down pushers and represents the transition from simple pushers to the later screw-down versions, like the 6263 or 6265. Since this is a very early model of the 6240, there are also many extremely rare components. As an example, although we will of course discuss the rest of the components later, the pushers are worth mentioning here. These are the extremely rare MK0 pushers, which are called millerighi pushers in collector circles. Millerighi is the Italian word for striped and refers to the very fine stripes of the lever handle screw. Furthermore, these handles have been experimented with a material mixture with a high brass content, so that the handles have taken on a wonderful patina over the decades. Now, however, we would like to go into all the details of this magnificent Paul Newman 6240. The case is in wonderful condition. Full horns, perfect edges and a wonderful matte finish set it apart. It is not unpolished, but the work was done by an expert in his field and is perfect. The non oyster Paul Newman reed in the tri-color finish with black wrapper is in great condition. All luminous dots are fully intact and have taken on a wonderful patina over the decades. The white totalizers are wonderfully clear with no damage or patination. The writing is wonderfully sharp, with clear printing and rich red Daytona lettering. The outer minute ring is equally gorgeous clear with minimal patination and super contrast. In sum, a gorgeous Paul Newman dial for this gorgeous watch. The hands are in very good condition with light patina and matching luminous material to the dial. Of course, the watch has an original t21 superdome plexiglass installed to bring out the full vintage beauty. The bezel is, how could it be otherwise for a fully authentic watch from this era, an MK1 bezel. You can recognize this one by the very bulbous 8s and the elongated 5s. It has a crack at 55, which is zero bother in kind and has been fixed by us so there is no risk when wearing it. The pushers, as mentioned above, are extremely rare MK0 millerighi pushers with great patina. The 7835 Faltoyster bracelet is not only original to the watch and in great condition, no it also has the extremely rare 71N lugs which have prototype status, are highly sought after by collectors and were only made in a very short period of time and only for manual wind daytonas.
Conclusion: Probably one of the most beautiful watches I have ever been able to present and offer as a dealer. Definitely a highlight in every collection.
