Early, extremely rare 6240 Paul Newman Daytona with MK0 millerighi pushers and 71N endlinks.
The 6240 Daytona is the rarest variant of all screwed manual wind Daytonas. It was the first model to feature those screwed pushers and beautifully represents the transition from simple pushers to the later screwed versions like the 6263 or 6265.
As this watch is a very early model of the 6240, numerous extremely rare components have also been installed here. As an example, although we will of course go into the rest of the components later, the pushers should be mentioned here.
These are the extremely rare MK0 pushers, which collectors call millerighi pushers. Millerighi is the Italian word for striped and refers to the very fine stripes of the handle screw connection. Furthermore, experiments were carried out with a material mixture with a high proportion of brass for these pushers, so that the pushers have acquired a wonderful patina over the decades.
But now to all the details of this magnificent Paul Newman 6240.
The case is in top condition. It is characterized by full lugs, perfect edges and a wonderful matt finish. It is not unpolished, but the work has been done by a professional and is perfect. There are signs of wear but the look is perfect.
The non-oyster Paul Newman dial in the three-color version with a black center dial is in great condition. All lume dots are completely intact and have acquired a wonderful patina over the decades. The white subdials are wonderfully clear with no damage or patina. The writing is wonderfully sharp, with clear print and rich red Daytona lettering. The outer minute track ring is also wonderfully clear with minimal patina and a great contrast.
All in all, a wonderful Paul Newman dial for this wonderful watch.
The hands are in very good condition with a light patina and lume material that matches the dial.
Of course, the watch has an original t21 superdome plexiglas built in to reveal its full vintage beauty.
The bezel is, how could it be otherwise for a fully authentic watch from that period, an MK1 bezel. These can be recognized by the very bulbous 8s and the elongated 5s. It has a tear at 55, which doesn’t bother in person and has been fixed by us, so there is no risk when wearing it.
As mentioned above, the pushers are extremely rare MK0 millerighi pushers with a great patina.
The 7835 folded oyster bracelet is not only original to the watch and in great condition, no, it also has the extremely rare 71N lugs, which have prototype status, are highly demanded by collectors and were only produced in a very short period of time and only for hand-wound Daytonas.
Conclusion: A wonderful Paul Newman Daytona with lovely look and rare features.
