Stunning single quick day-date with a rare blue vignette, also known as a dégradé dial.
The case is in very good condition. While it may have been lightly polished in the past, it shows excellent proportions, sharp edges and a very good matte finish on the top of the case. There are minimal signs of wear but no deep scratches, dents, or anything like that.
The fact that the watch has been worn very little in its 40 years is also evident in the strong gold patina between the lugs near the reference and serial numbers. This is naturally not visible with the bracelet fitted, but for me, it’s always a sign of quality.
The highlight of this watch is undoubtedly the dial. It features a blue vignette, also known as a dégradé dial. A vignette or dégradé describes a gradient of color and in this case, it runs from the dark edge to the lighter center.
These dials are truly incredibly charming on the wrist and in person. Depending on the light, the intensity and appearance of the gradient vary and the subtle diamond setting is another eye-catching detail.
The dial is in perfect condition. All lume dots are fully intact and there is no damage to the lacquer. The letters and minute track are perfectly printed.
The hands are also perfect, the bezel is razor-sharp and the sapphire crystal is undamaged.
The watch comes on the 8385 President bracelet. The bracelet has been lightly polished and shows minimal stretch. It has 21 links and is therefore suitable for wrists up to approximately 17.5 cm.
Conclusion: A high-quality Day-Date with a demanded dial. Whether in shade or sun, the dial looks great in any weather!
