description: Beautiful 18038 Day-Date with a super rare blue vignette or also called degrade diamond string dial.

The case is in wonderful condition. Perfect proportions, wonderfully sharp edges and a perfect matte finish on the top of the case. There are minimal signs of wear, but no deep scratches, dents or anything like that.

The absolute highlight of this watch is the wonderful dial. This is a dial with two special features:

Feature ONE: The dial is a vignette or also called degrade dial with a blue gradient. These dials are made in a similar way to Stella dials and therefore show a wonderful lacquer effect and a wonderful color gradient that gets darker and darker starting from the lighter center.

Feature TWO: The dial has a magnificent diamond setting in the form of a closed ring on the dial. These dials are known in collector circles as STRING dials. Personally, I think the combination of the two features is simply fantastic. The blue of the vignette / degrade dial gives the watch a sporty look, which is balanced out in a cool way by the diamond setting. As you can probably tell, I fell in love the first time I had this watch on my wrist.

The bezel is of course wonderfully sharp and unpolished and the sapphire glas has no weaknesses.

The 8385 President bracelet is also in top condition. It shows almost no stretch, a fully intact crown (not polished) on the clasp and comes with 23 links. Furthermore, the clasp code is M2 for February 1989, so this is the original bracelet for the watch.

Conclusion: Wonderfully rare and beautiful watch. Whether it’s a collection or casual with jeans and a T-shirt, this watch is always convincing.
