Description: Beautiful Day-Date in a classic configuration.
The case is in very good condition. It shows full lugs, nice edges and a very good matte finish on the top of the case. Anyone who knows my descriptions and reads them carefully, knows that you can easily determine the quality of an 1803 case at a specific place.
Do you know? Exactly, it is the distance between the bezel and the winding crown. If you see part of the case here, wich means the case is wider than the bezel, the watch is only slightly polished and this is exactly the case here.
By the way, the bezel is still sharp and as the pictures show, the watch has already taken on a slight patina due to very short wearing times in recent years. For me it’s a great effect that once again underlines the cool vintage character. By the way, the patina can be removed without leaving any residue if desired.
The golden sunray cut dial is in top condition with no weaknesses. It is the so-called pie pan version, with a flattened edge (keyword: upside down pie pan). What is particularly noteworthy is that all of the lume dots are wonderfully intact. That doesn’t happen often with an 1803.
The hands are fine, with a patina that matches the dial.
By the way, this vintage treasure has two cool features. Firstly, it comes on the original Rolex crocodile leather strap and secondly, unlike 99% of the 1803 on leather, it has an original 18 carat yellow gold pin buckle. You have to invest a few hundred euros for the pin buckle alone. Already available here and therefore easy on the wallet.
Conclusion: I like to repeat myself. 1803 on leather goes with everything. Suit, T-shirt. It’s just a lot of fun when you have a good watch like this.
