The case is in very good condition. It has been polished by Patek Philippe during a service in 2017 for the first time. The hallmarks on the side are beautifully clear and the case show wonderful proportions.
Since its service in 2017, the watch has only been worn sporadically. Therefore, it shows only light, superficial signs of wear. The minimal wear is also confirmed by the completely intact service sticker on the caseback.
The beautiful black dial is in perfect condition. It is the rare version with Arabic numerals, which is also confirmed on the certificate (Cadran/Dial: noir, heures arabes).
The hands are equally perfect and complement the dial perfectly.
This fantastic and rare perpetual calendar comes with its original, wonderful set of accessories. The watch has been sold in Japan and therefore comes with the special, large map for the scope of delivery which includes:
- The original certificate with all the watch’s details.
- Confirmation from Patek Philippe Japan regarding the registration of the watch on November 25, 1997
- Further brochures/information
Included in the scope of delivery is the original watch winder, which is in truly fantastic condition. Almost all winders from this period tend to suffer from leather deterioration. This winder is in excellent condition and functions perfectly.
Unfortunately, the owner is currently still searching for the setting pin and the Patek Philippe invoice from 2017. If these are found, the new owner will of course receive them free of charge.
Regarding the question about the second caseback, we would like to point out that the 5040 in platinum was never delivered with a second caseback.
The original Patek Philippe leather strap is in very good condition. It was fitted during the service in 2017. The platinum Patek Philippe pin buckle is also in excellent condition and, of course, original to the watch.
Conclusion: A perpetual calendar with a wonderful appearance and an outstanding set of accessories.
