Description: Exciting unpolished Tropical Day-Date with box and papers.
The case is in unpolished condition. As the pictures perfectly show, the watch has seen minimal wear over the past few decades, allowing a rich patina to develop across the entire watch. This patina develops when a watch is stored for a long time and the copper, which is part of the gold alloy, oxidizes. A stunning effect that gives this watch a unique look.
The excellent unpolished condition is further emphasized by the completely intact caseback sticker. The crown and reference are still perfectly visible on it.
The watch has been worn minimaly and has probably been serviced once by an uninformed watchmaker, which unfortunately caused unsightly marks on the upper lugs. These can be easily removed with a light polish, but they do not detract from the overall appearance.
The golden sunray-cut dial, just as the case, has acquired a fine patina. The lower half of the dial, in particular, displays a distinct patina, completing the exceptional and unique look of this watch.
The hands are original tritium hands with a harmonious patina. The bezel is razor-sharp, and the sapphire crystal is perfect.
The watch delights its new owner with its box and papers. It has been sold in January 1988 by rolex authorized dealer Zurich Watch Co. Ltd. in Hong Kong.
The 8385 President bracelet, just as the watch, is unpolished and has an equally wonderful patina. It shows light superficial signs of wear and comes with 23 links. The clasp code is L6 for June 1987, making it the original bracelet for the watch.
