Ein schönes Case mit feinen Proportionen. Sicherlich schon einmal poliert, aber der Gesamteindruck passt wunderbar. Wie ihr auf den Bildern seht, wurde die Uhr in den letzten Jahren nicht mehr häufig getragen. Daher hat sich auf der rechten Gehäuseseite eine herrliche Patina gebildet, die dieser Plexi Day-Date nochmals einen extra Charme verleiht. Kann man easy entfernen, aber ich mags sehr.
The dial is an absolute special feature. It is a very rare “black index” dial. Rolex did not use classic tritium lume, but instead filled the dial and hands with black paint. This was probably done for aesthetic reasons, as it looks awesome, or has been produced for markets that did not allow radioactive lume. We won’t find out today, but we know that the black contrast to the gold dial is absolutely convincing. In addition to this, the rare minute track with arabic digits makes this beauty a classic day-date with a SPECIAL look and feel.
The hands are also filled with the same black material, so they match the dial perfectly and are also particularly rare, because Rolex changed them to standard hands in almost every service. Nowadays it’s a crime, but back then it was a must so that you could see the time at night 😉
The bezel is well sharp and the plexi is wonderful.
The watch comes on a great brown crocodile leather strap with a gold-plated pin buckle.
