Description:Extremely rare Tudor Submariner 7928 with transitional dial print (see description)
The case is in very good condition. Certainly polished in the past and also gladly worn, it still shows thick and even lugs, a neat beveled edge and a good matte finish on the top of the case.
The highlight of this watch is certainly the extremely rare and exciting original dial. As we know, Rolex and therefore also Tudor switched their production from gilt dials to matte dials in 1966. This dial represents an extremely exciting intermediate phase, which can only be found in 67 Tudor Submariner models.
As the wonderful macro photos show, this watch shows features of gilt dials and matte dials in one dial. Specifically, the outer print, such as the minute scale and depth information, is still printed in gilt, while the central print, such as Tudor, Submariner, etc., has already been made with a matte print.
Another highlight are the original flat hands since they do not have a bend from the middle compared to later versions. In addition, the second hand shows a significantly enlarged circle of lume, which collectors refer to as the “BIG Lollipop”.
In addition to the extremely rare dial and beautiful hands, this watch also delights its new owner with an original t19 superdomed glas, a sharp bezel and a great aged MK3 inlay, which was probably added to the watch a little later.
The 9315 Tudor Oyster bracelet is in very good condition. Minimal stretch and just as little signs of wear make it perfectly wearable. It is a somewhat younger bracelet, which has probably been added in the course of a service.
Conclusion: I have been collecting Rolex and Tudor vintage watches for 15 years now and have been able to admire such a dial exactly twice during this time. Once at a large collectors’ meeting and once in this very same watch. This watch is a perfect addition to any collection and is extremely exciting from a historical perspective.
