Description: The crazy Maxi Submariner 5513 from the time machine.
Wow, Berlin from 1983 is speaking! Former east germany and the berlin wall still exist and on April 2nd, 1983, a Mr. Griesbaum decided to purchase a 5513 Submariner from Juwelier Lorenz in Friedenau. Afterwards exciting things happened. The watch, perhaps it was a gift or an impulse purchase, doesn’t quite find its way onto a wrist. Worn once in a while, it has been kept carefully and can now be presented in a condition that can generally be described as a time capsule.
For sale is an unpolished, perfectly preserved Maxi MKIV Submariner No Date 5513 in wonderful scope of delivery.
The case has already been mentioned. PERFECT! Untouched since delivery, it shows perfect proportions, wonderful razor-sharp edges and a perfect matte finish on the top of the case. Signs of wear are minimal and these are in the form of micro-scratches. No dents, chips or deep scratches, nothing!
The Maxi MKIV dial is a highlight. Perfect untouched condition and with a patina that could not be better. There is simply nothing negative to say. The tritium hands, just as the dial, are in top condition. The patina is a shade darker than the dial patina, but really perfect and magically strong. By the way, the hands show some verdigris in the middle near the pointer outlet. This is also typical of an untouched Maxi Sub from that time. Here the oil in the movement reacts somewhat with the metal of the hands. Not noticeable on the wrist and of course technically not a problem.
The bezel is razor sharp and unpolished, and as befits delivery condition, the watch comes with t19 superdomed and wonderful MK3 bezel inlay in perfect condition.
This highlight Submariner MAXI MKIV has a great scope of delivery. Non chronometer certificates like this were actually always handwritten. It is therefore wonderful that the original purchase invoice from April 2, 1983 has been preserved. Both with identical handwriting and sales stamp as the dealer invoice confirms the sale by Juwelier Lorenz in Berlin. There is one more little thing to consider regarding the papers. As usual at this time, the greatest importance was not placed on the accuracy of the papers. Therefore, the person filling out the form made a small error when entering the last three digits of the serial number. These were swapped. Thanks to the German delivery, which has been carried out by Rolex Cologne and was marked with a green sticker (only available in Germany), we can guarantee that these papers belong exactly to this watch. Furthermore, all handwriting on the certificate and invoice are identical and the inventory number of Juwelier Lorenz can also be found on the invoice and papers.
The 93150 Oyster bracelet shows the same unique quality as the watch itself. No stretch and almost no signs of wear are immediately convincing here too. Furthermore, it is of course the original bracelet for the watch with clasp code H for 1983.
Conclusion: You don‘t have a time machine at home? Buy this watch and you will find yourself in Berlin back in 1983.
