Description: Wonderful PRE COMEX 551 Submariner.
The case is in great condition. Gently polished in the past by an expert in his field, the case shows great proportions, wonderfully sharp edges and a very good matte finish on the top of the case.
While polishing, great care was taken to remove as little material as possible from the case. Therefore there are only light signs of wear in the form of micro-scratches and two minimal chips.
The highlight of this watch is the wonderful PRE COMEX dial. PreComex dials got their name because the print served as a template for the dials of the 5514, which were then delivered with the COMEX logo. The dial is characterized by a special and unique print of the crown, as well as the very pronounced serif on the letters.
The PRE COMEX dial is the rarest matte dial variant for a 5513 Submariner.
The condition of the dial is very fine. The print is wonderfully clear and present. Furthermore, the lume material has taken on an evenly present and wonderful patina. As is usual with these dials, there are darker areas of the black matting in the center of the dial near the index outlet, but even we were unable to capture this with our camera technology.
All in all, a really wonderful dial with a lot of expression and presence on the wrist.
The hands match the color of the dial wonderfully and are in very good condition.
The bezel is wonderfully sharp and the inlay is a great MK3 inlay with strong black color and bold print.
Of course, we also gave the watch a matching old t19 superdomed to perfect the vintage look.
The bracelet is a later 93150 Oyster in perfect condition. It has been polished once and shows almost no signs of wear. The clasp code is I8 for August 1984
Conclusion: Wonderful PRE COMEX Sub with wonderful vintage charm.
