Description: Outstanding Royal Oak moon phase aka OWL with Yves Klein dial.
The case is in perfect and unpolished condition. All proportions perfect, edges perfect and the matt finish leaves nothing to be desired. Signs of wear are minimal and only in the form of micro-scratches.
The bezel completely reflects the quality of the bracelet, is also unpolished with perfect gaps between screws and case and just as minimal signs of wear.
I have rarely seen such a good quality Royal Oak from this period.
The dial is certainly the highlight of this watch. Wonderful and strong blue Yves Klein dial.
Yves Klein was a French painter and sculptor who became known for his use of the same blue, which he patented and which can be found today under the color code IKB 191.
Depending on the incidence of light, this blue has a unique look and was used exclusively by Audemars Piguet. When I was allowed to hold a watch with this dial in my hands for the first time, I was in love from that moment and am still as happy as a small child when I can and may purchase a watch with this face.
As the pictures wonderfully show, the dial is of outstanding quality. Many of these dials show a slight loss of color at the edges of the totalizers, which is caused by the two-part varnish that is necessary for this color. This dial shows almost no loss of color and is bright blue and breathtaking.
The original hands, like the dial, are in perfect condition with a harmonious patina.
Not only do we have a high-quality Royal Oak with an extremely rare dial, no, I can also offer this watch with a box and German papers. It has been sold on December 14th, 2000 by concessionaire Wickhoff in Planegg (near Munich).
The integrated original Royal Oak bracelet is strong as a bear. You just look at the picture where the watch is on the bracelet and you will agree with me that we see a perfectly preserved bracelet without stretch. In addition, the bracelet, identical to the case, has minimal signs of wear and a perfectly folded clasp.
Conclusion: perfect watch, great dial, German set!
