Your Thewatchguy Day-Date collector is currently struggling as to whether he should keep it himself. Why? Honestly, this is probably the best Bark Day-Date on the entire vintage market. Why? Let’s dive deeper into this.
The case is in perfect and unpolished condition. This is the demanded “thick case” variant, which is reserved for the early 180XX Day-Dates. The thicker case can be recognized by the generally much more present shape and the thick gap between the crown and the bezel. The condition is really perfect. The watch has a few fine micro-scratches, but nothing else. Feels like you just came out of the store.
The bezel, extremely important in a bark, is also unpolished, razor-sharp and perfect.
The dial is a wonderful silver tapestry dial. I have to be honest, the look of tapestry combined with bark caught me straight away. It just fits perfectly. By the way, the condition of the dial is wonderful. Clear print, no damage and an amazing patina. Strong, even and with matching hands.
This Day-Date time capsule comes in a full set with box and papers. It has been sold on October 3rd, 1983 by rolex authorized dealer Juwelier Christ in beautiful Germany. Really nice set with booklet, calendar, etc.
The bark president bracelet is perfect, just as the watch. ZERO and really ZERO stretch, minimal signs of wear and all links characterize it. With clasp code H for 1983, this is of course also the original bracelet for the watch.
Conclusion: What a Day-Date. Great condition. Great Look. Scope of delivery is great. Actually a keeper, but I’m too poor.
