Description: Cool white gold Day-Date with a rare doorstop dial and a truly amazing vintage lizard leather strap from Rolex.
The case is very nice. While it’s certainly already polished, it still displays full lugs, beautiful proportions, and a very good matte finish on the top of the case. Furthermore, you’ll have already noticed that there’s a gap between the bezel and the crown. Anyone who reads my watch descriptions frequently knows that this is one of the quality criteria. Present gap means a good case. Here, as already mentioned, it’s wonderfully present.
The silver sunray-cut dial is in very good condition and has two features. It’s a so-called doorstep dial, which refers to the indices at 6 and 9 o’clock. Furthermore, it’s a “pie pan” dial, meaning the edges are flattened like an upside-down pie plate.
As mentioned, the condition is very good. The dial has a light patina on the edge of the right side which is not really noticable on the wrist. The lume is fully intact and has a wonderful patina that contrasts beautifully.
The hands are also in excellent condition, with a patina that matches the dial.
By the way, we have given this watch a full service and therefore offer a two-year warranty on its movement function.
The strap is another highlight. It’s an original lizard leather strap from the 1970s in very good vintage condition. The combination with the dial is simply magnificent. The clasp is an original steel Rolex pin buckle, which also complements the white gold of the watch beautifully.
Conclusion: A fine white gold Day-Date with character and plenty of vintage charm. Fresh service, ready for you.
