Cool 1803 Day-Date with so called “pre buckley” dial.
The case is in very good condition. Polished in the past, it still shows very good proportions, beautiful edges, and a good matte finish on the top of the case. The quality of an 1803 case can always clearly been seen in the gap between the bezel and the winding crown. If there is a gap and you can see the case, the watch has not been polished or, as is the case here, has only been lightly polished.
There are signs of wear and a little sleeve polish, but for a 55-year-old watch, the quality is absolutely convincing.
A highlight of this 1803 Day-Date is the rare dial. It is a so-called “pre-buckley” dial. These dials are very rare and only found in Day-Dates until the early 1970s. They are characterized by the printed Roman numerals and their arrangement. Not only the dial itself, but also the condition is a highlight. Absolutely perfect! No flaws, all lume dots perfect, one of the best 1803 dials we have been able to offer.
The hands are equally special. They are lacquered black to match the numerals, which is only available on dials with Roman numerals. The condition is also perfect, with a patina that matches the dial.
The bezel is still sharp, with signs of wear that match the case.
Our master watchmaker recently performed a complete overhaul of the movement. Therefore, the watch runs beautifully and is ready for years to come.
The watch comes on a brand new black leather strap with gold colored noname buckle.
Conclusion: Top Day-Date with rare dial. Whether with a suit or a t-shirt, this watch works with everything.
