Description: Great vintage Day-Date with picture-perfect blue dial.
The case is in very good condition. The case is in very good condition. Probably polished once in the past, it shows full lugs and great proportions. The edges are good and the matte finish on the top of the case is great. There are minor signs of wear and there is a slight chip in the middle of the left side of the case, but it is positioned exactly that it cannot be seen when worn.
An 1803 Day-Date can be recognized by the distance between the bezel and the edges of the case. There has to be a fair amount of space here so that the watch isn’t polished to death. If you check the pictures, you will notice that the distances have been very well preserved and you really have a fine case in front of you.
The bezel is well sharp with nice teeth and minor signs of wear.
The highlight of the watch is the very rare and wonderfully preserved blue dial. The condition is lovely, with clear printing, wonderful sunray cut and fully intact index lume dots.
By the way, this top condition is quite rare, because the color application of these dials were often not perfect, which means that over time the lume material attacked the dial color and thus caused unsightly loss of color. This is non-existent here and testifies to the quality.
The set of hands is also in wonderful condition with the lume matching the dial patina.
The watch comes on a new leather strap (non Rolex) and with a vintage pin buckle (gold plated).
Conclusion: A wonderful blue day-date. I love these watches because you get so much for your money. On the leather strap you can wear a cool 1803 like this with everything, whether jeans and a T-shirt or with a suit.
