An Oysterquartz needs a sharp case with clear edges and excellent proportions to reveal its full beauty. The Oysterquartz offered here is not unpolished but it has the attributes needed for a fine quality. Very good proportions, wonderful edges, and a very good finish.
There are signs of wear and a scratch here and there but as I already mentioned, the expression and quality are immediately convincing.
The dial is truly magnificent. It is the rare MK1 variant, which only has Oysterquartz printed at 6 o’clock. This minimalist print gives the dial considerably more depth and expression. The dial is in excellent condition, with no weaknesses or imperfections, and as the pictures show, the lume material has acquired a wonderful patina.
The hands are also perfectly patinated and their color matches the patina of the lume material on the dial beautifully.
The sapphire crystal is a Rolex service crystal in perfect condition.
The integrated Oysterquartz bracelet, just as the watch, is truly fine. It shows signs of wear, but it’s not worn or polished. The clasp code is B for 1977, making it the original bracelet for the watch.
Conclusion: These 17,000 Oysterquartz are simply “awesome” watches. You can still get them relatively affordably, and on the wrist they’re simply a great piece with unmistakable character.
