Description: Wonderful Double Red Sea-Dweller with a perfect MKIV dial, directly from a Corsican diver.
You need connections to find these truly authentic and unmodified watches. Thanks to a good friend on the island of Corsica, I’ve been able to acquire and offer several beautiful Corsican watches. Life on Corsica is lived by and with the sea, and a Sea-Dweller is a perfect fit. This beautiful piece comes directly from the hands of a Corsican diver, so its history is fully known.
The case is wonderful and shows the necessary vintage charm. It has been polished once, is super chunky, and shows the typical signs of wear that come with a life of diving. There’s also a bit of sleve polish, but on the wrist it has a wonderful charm, “Mon dieu,” as the French would say.
Of course, as is needed for a Double Red from this serial number range, the watch has a straight Rolex logo on the case back and the full serial number engraved inside the case back.
By the way, you can also see the fully intact blood groove in the picture of the case back. Another guarantee of a great case.
The MKIV Double Red Sea-Dweller dial is truly perfect. Crisp printing, wonderfully vibrant Double Red lettering, and a fantastic patina on the lume. Furthermore, the lume has the perfect waffle pattern, just as it should. The hands are a perfect color match for the dial.
The bezel is an original 1665 bezel with the super-wide edge. These bezels were found on all 1665 Double Red models, but were often replaced with the modern version over time. Just to be clear: the bezel is not polished; it’s supposed to be like that!
The bezel insert is a beautifully aged MK3 insert, which is a perfect match for the watch’s period and was, of course, originally fitted. The blue coloring is simply stunning.
The 93150 Oyster bracelet, like the watch itself, is in fine vintage condition. The bracelet shows minimal stretch, light signs of wear, and is perfectly comfortable to wear. The clasp code is N for 1990. The strap was replaced as part of the mentioned Rolex service.
Conclusion: A completely authentic and stunning Double Red from the Corsican Sea.
