Description: A highlight from my private collection that can/may leave me.
Here is a highlight of the extra class. This watch was the first watch that made me break my self-imposed rule of “sell everything as a dealer, collect nothing”. The reason, well, you’ve probably already recognized the reason from the pictures. This is by far the most beautiful Maxi PUMPKIN Submariner I have ever seen. Super super strong patina, perfect vintage charm and absolutely original. Since then, a few beautiful and amazing watches have found their way into my collection and now I have to say good bye, because I’m chasing my “grail watch”.
But now the detailed information about this vintage orgasm.
The case is in excellent condition. Polished once during a service in Geneva, it shows full proportions, razor-sharp edges in exactly the thickness I would want for a maxi sub and the ladies and gentlemen in Geneva also implemented the matt finish perfectly. It has signs of wear from me, but I pay attention to my watches and it still looks great today.
The highlight of this watch is simply the dial. Not only that it is the most demanded and in my eyes the most beautiful variant of the 5513 dials, the MAXI MK1 dial, no, the patina is simply amazing. Extremely strong PUMPKIN patina with wonderful radiance that immediately enchants you. The lume is 100% original and untouched. It has the typical irregularity that this lume develops when it gets so dark. Nevertheless, it is not dull, but has a fire that almost seems to jump out of the watch. Anyone who sees this watch for the first time is immediately enchanted.
In addition to the lume, the dial is in fine condition. It is not perfect and has minimal oil stains from a somewhat heavy re-oiling of the movement, but again that is part of the charm and expression of this vintage dream.
The original tritium hands are, and this is really rare, absolutely consistent with the dial with an equally strong patina. They are not coated with new lume (no relume), which can be clearly seen in the structure and irregularities.
The bezel is wonderfully sharp and of course I treated the watch to an original t19 superdomed back then.
Oh and the inlay. Yes, the inlay is just mega. Super nice aged MK3 inlay with bold print (fat font). Really really nice gray, not ghost, but with a strong blue tint that goes perfectly with the patina of the watch. For me the perfect combination. By the way, the pearl is relumed, because it got lost and I wanted an absolutely coherent picture.
The watch comes with service papers from Rolex Geneva from 2003.
The 93150 Oyster bracelet with 580 endlinks is in excellent condition. Light stretch and few signs of wear make it perfectly wearable. The clasp code is H for 1983, slightly younger than the watch.
Conclusion: Unfortunately, this beauty must/may leave me, but I am convinced that it will excites the new owner just as much as it has excited me over the years.
