Rare Rolex 168000 in a wonderful full set from Indonesia.

The case is in very good condition. It has been polished in 2022 as part of a Rolex service and has rarely been worn eversince. The lugs are nicely rounded with well-defined edges and a beautiful matte finish on the top of the case.

This is a 168000. With the 168000, Rolex first used 904L steel. This occurred during the production of the 16800, and to distinguish the new steel version, these watches were given the reference 168000.

The Submariner Date dial, along with the scope of delivery, is one of the highlights of the watch. As the pictures beautifully show, the tritium lume has developed a wonderful, rich, creamy patina over the decades. Furthermore, the dial is in perfect condition without any flaws. The hands are also in excellent condition, with a harmonious patina that is slightly lighter depending on the light.

The sapphire crystal is perfect, and the original bezel inlay with the tritium bead shows considerable wear, giving the watch a truly cool vintage character.

The watch comes as a wonderful full set from Indonesia. It has been sold on March 1, 1988, by rolex authorized dealer The Rolex Indonesia Service N.V. Suisse (LC 430). The complete set is superb and includes:

Original box with tray and outer cardboard box

Original papers (punched, dated, and stamped by the dealer)

    Rolex Submariner booklet (English)

    Rolex Oyster booklet (English)

    Green pouch with serial number

    Hang tag with serial number

    Calendar

    Red seal

Furthermore, the service card from the aforementioned Rolex service center (May 14, 2022) and the service booklet are included.

By the way, did you notice that the papers are printed with 16800 and not 168000? That’s correct. A 168000 can only be identified by the case engraving. The papers were always marked 16800.

The 93150 Oyster bracelet, just as the watch itself, is in fine vintage condition. The bracelet shows some stretch, but wears perfectly on the wrist, and with the clasp code H for 1984, it is certainly the original bracelet for the watch.

Conclusion: A fantastic neo-vintage Submariner with a rare reference, presented as a top-notch full set.
