Super cool 1680 Maxi MK1 Sub Date in a crazy collector’s set

It doesn’t happen often to me that I’m offered a watch in which both the condition and the scope of delivery are perfect. I’ve been chasing this 1680 for a long time and was finally able to purchase it. Why have I been persistent here? Well, read the description, check the pictures and you will know why.

The case is in very good condition. Polished once during a Rolex service, it shows full proportions, beautiful edges and a very good matt finish on the top of the case. There are small signs of wear, but no deep scratches, dents or anything like that.

A highlight of this watch is definitely the Maxi MK 1 dial. These dials are called Maxi because they have a significantly larger amount of lume than other dials. The condition of the dial is magnificent. Perfect print, no damage and a wonderfully creamy lume patina.

The hands are original to the dial with a wonderfully harmonious patina. They are slightly tarnished, which is typical for vintage hands from this period.

The bezel is nice and sharp and the MK 3 bezel inlay shows a light blueish fading.

In addition to the great dial, the scope of delivery is another highlight and you will be amazed at what is included in this set.

I can list: Original box with outer carton (of course with 5513 sticker) Original papers sold on 04.07.1978 from Lee Jim Kee Watch Co. in Hongkong Original purchase invoice with identical handwriting and identical sales date Submariner booklet Your rolex oyster booklet seal Hang Tag Anchor

And now it’s getting really crazy, the extremely rare trip lock hang tag is also included in this awesome full set.

A small side note: the trip lock hang tag was used by Rolex for a short period of time to inform customers that this watch is already equipped with a modern crown. They switched from twin lock to trip lock and wanted to use this hang tag to make it clear to the customer that the quality and also the security against water leakage had increased further.

The 93150 Oyster bracelet (with 580 end links) is in very good condition. It shows almost no stretch and only minimal signs of wear.

With clasp code H, the bracelet is from 1983

Conclusion: Highlight! Highlights! Highlights! This 1680 can compete with any collection. If you’re looking for top quality, you’ve come to the right place.
