Description: 36mm LONG INDEX DIAL Royal Oak in top condition from Germany.
The case is in excellent condition. As the pictures show, the watch has been gently worn, but the case has never been polished which is visible in the excellent proportions, the side screws set deep within the case, and the overall appearance of the watch, which shows slight signs of wear and light shirt polish on the edges.
The bezel, just as the case, is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear and light sleeve polish. The distance between the screws and the bezel edge is optimal and testifies to the quality of the watch.
The black/gray Petit Tapisserie dial is in top condition. It features a clear print and a wonderful patina of the lume material.
The hands are service hands which is not noticeable in person. Unfortunately, it’s now standard practice for Audemars Piguet service to replace the hands, but this way you have a freshly serviced watch with additional AP papers (more on that later on).
This magnificent Royal Oak delights its new owner as a full set with box and papers. It has been sold in 1998 by Wempe Jewelers on Maximilianstrasse in Munich. In addition to the original papers, the new owner also receives the original Oktogon box and outer carton, which are in excellent condition.
In addition, the watch received the aforementioned full service from Audemars Piguet in 2025. Unfortunately, the movement’s base plate had a material weakness (I already had this with a 15202), so on Audemars Piguet’s advice, the movement has been completely replaced with an original one. This means the movement number is new, but the movement is identical to its original condition. The total cost is more than €2,000, so you’ll have peace of mind for the next few years.
The original integrated Royal Oak strap, just as the watch, is in great condition. Its low stretch, good length, and, above all, its original clasp are its distinguishing features.
Conclusion: A fantastic long index dial Royal Oak from Germany.
