A fine 5513 with a stunning “Serif” dial with beautiful patina—straight from the Italian sunshine.
Italians know how to enjoy life. They drive their Fiat Panda until it breaks, but they invest in a beautiful watch. That’s exactly the case here: I was able to acquire this fantastic Submariner directly from the original owner through a friend. The seller—a friendly grocery shop owner—spent good money back in the day to treat himself. That’s the way to live!
The case is in a worn but very good condition. It has been polished previously but retains full lugs, clean edges, and a nice matte finish on the top surfaces. There are signs of wear, but hey—you have to handle vegetables with care, and he treated the watch the same way.
The dial is the absolute highlight of this watch. It features a patina that is simply a joy on the wrist. Add a crisp print and a flawless dial surface and you have a vintage masterpiece. The hands also show rich patina—the hour hand is slightly darker—but overall, it is a watch that instantly catches the eye.
The bezel remains sharp; unfortunately, the Inlay had been replaced at some point (though it has a tritium pearl), but the original T19 “Superdome” crystal was preserved!
The bracelet has also been replaced during a service, but it is a fantastic 9315 folded Oyster bracelet with the correct 280 end links. The bracelet alone is worth 2k or more. It shows slight stretch, wears wonderfullyob the wrist and perfectly rounds off the watch’s vintage look.
Conclusion: Whether it’s fennel or arugula—with this watch, you can sell anything.
