Description: Great 116520 Daytona from the first series with thin hands and a rare cream dial
The case is in very good condition. We had it gently polished by our expert and the result is perfect. Full lugs, wonderful edges and a perfect finish on all components. Due to the recent polish, there are no signs of wear.
The dial is the highlight of this watch, the so-called cream/cream variant. This variant can only be found in watches of the P, K and Y variants. When Rolex began producing the 116520, they used a dial color that was not UV-resistant and therefore the dials changed color from pure white to a cream color over time. The expression of the color sometimes varies. Here we have a medium cream color that is clearly visible in any light.
The hands are just as special. In the earlier series, just as we have here, Rolex used a thinner set of hands, which is why they are called “thin hands”.
Like all other components, the bezel is in top condition and has no signs of wear.
Just as the watch, the 78490 Oyster bracelet is freshly polished and in great condition with only the lightest stretch. It has 11 links and with the clasp code DT2 for February 2002, it is the original bracelet for the watch.
Conclusion: Great and rare Daytona in perfect condition.
