Description: Great black Zenith Daytona with “inverted six” dial.
The case of this early Zenith Daytona is in very good condition. Slightly polished in the past, it shows full lugs, great sharp edges and a very good matte finish on the top of the case. There are minor signs of wear, but no deep scratches, dents or anything like that.
The bezel, just as the case, has been carefully and uniquely polished. The numbers are wonderfully clear and sharp with only minor signs of wear.
The highlight of this watch is the wonderful black “inverted six” dial. Early Zenith Daytonas like this N series have a special print on the 6 o’clock totalizer. Here the 6 has been printed facing inwards and therefore gives the impression that it looks upside down for “inverted”. This has been changed in later series (from W to be precise) and therefore this dial variant is one of the rarest dial variants when it comes to Zenith Daytonas.
In addition, the dial is in top condition. Many of these dials became dull or developed small bubbles over the years, especially in the totalizers. This dial does not have this and also impresses with a cool, creamy patina in the white rings of the totalizers.
The tritium hands are in the same fine condition as the dial, with a consistent patina.
The 78360 Oyster bracelet is another special feature of the early Zenith Daytonas. Unlike the 78390 bracelet installed later, it does not have polished but matte links and no fixed endlinks. Both features further underline the vintage character of the watch.
The 78360 Oyster bracelet used here is in great condition with light stretch and minor signs of wear. This is also the original bracelet to the watch with clasp code R6 for June 1993
Conclusion: Wonderful inverted 6 Zenith Daytona with great charisma.
