Description: Outstanding 18238 Day-Date in new condition with a rare dial.
The case is simply gorgeous. Someone bought a Day-Date in the early 90s and only wore this watch for selected occasions. Accordingly, the case is simply perfect. Absolutely untouched, with full lugs, perfect edges and an equally perfect matte finish are evidence of top quality.
As the pictures perfectly show, this has taken on a wonderful patina across the entire case. This patina occurs when yellow gold has not been worn for a long period of time, which can cause the copper in the alloy to discolor. A wonderful effect that makes the watch appear almost rose gold. Of course, this patina can be removed without leaving any residue, but the Day-Date fan will surely love and honor it as it is.
Oh and yes, the caseback sticker is also wonderfully intact and further underlines the outstanding quality of this watch.
The condition is amazing, let‘s hop over to the matching super rare dial. This is a wonderful and very rare Myriad dial in gray. Myriad means countless and here refers to the magnificent diamond ring on the dial. There are many golden Myriad dials, but a gray one like this is absolutely rare and also beautiful. The condition is absolutely perfect.
The hands are the correct and rare No Lume hands, of course are also in perfect condition.
The bezel is razor-sharp and the sapphir glas has no weaknesses.
This truly outstanding Day-Date comes with box and papers. It has been sold in Taiwan by rolex authorized dealer Formosa Watch Co. What’s particularly nice here is that the original hangtag and the rare President box with notebook have been preserved.
The 8385 President bracelet is outstanding, just as the watch. Absolutely zero stretch and the same wonderful patina characterize it. It comes with 22 links and a clasp code R5, which confirms again that Day-Dates were always delivered later, as this watch was only finalized and delivered by Rolex in May 1993.
