A wonderful white gold Day-Date ref. 1803 featuring a slightly “tropical” dial and a magnificent President bracelet with a hidden clasp.<\/p>\n

The case is in excellent condition. I am torn between whether it is unpolished or has undergone a single, light polish; in any case, the proportions are perfect. The lugs are long and full, the gap between the bezel and the winding crown is clearly defined and the overall impression speaks to superb quality.<\/p>\n

That gap between the bezel and the crown on the right-hand side is one of the first things I look for when examining an 1803. It is a great indicator regarding the quality of the case and here\u2014as mentioned\u2014it is perfectly preserved.<\/p>\n

The dial is fantastic. Not only is it in perfect condition with all its lume dots intact, it has also developed a subtle discoloration over the decades. Depending on the light, it shimmers with a golden hue, while from other angles, it takes on a magnificent silvery tone. I love it and we\u2019ve taken extra photos to show you the difference.<\/p>\n

The hands are equally excellent, featuring a patina that harmonizes beautifully with the dial.<\/p>\n

The bezel is razor-sharp and the Plexiglas shows only light signs of wear.<\/p>\n

This stunning white gold Day-Date comes with its box and papers and the box itself is special, too. It\u2019s been a long time since I\u2019ve seen an “1803” sticker on a box!<\/p>\n

Finally, there is another highlight: the bracelet. It is a wonderful President bracelet with minimal stretch, 22 links, and a HIDDEN clasp. Why does that matter? Many 1803s feature standard box clasps; the concealed clasp was only introduced toward the end of the production run\u2014this is likely one of the very last 1803s, as the 18039 model arrived in 1978. The clasp code is “E,” and given the proximity to the year of manufacture (“E” corresponds to 1980), I would say the watch was originally delivered with this bracelet. It was not uncommon for Day-Date models to have their cases produced in batches and then shipped out gradually over time.<\/p>\n

Conclusion: Vintage white gold in one of its finest forms. Top-quality white gold 1803s have become very rare; you will likely need to act fast on this one.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
