The case is in great vintage condition. By checking the total proportions of the case we can say it has been polished maybe once during a service in the 70s. What we can guarantee is that the whole case proportions are top, with the typical wide chamfers for an early 70s case and a very good matte finish on top of the case. Signs of wear are present but in total it\u2019s a lovely vintage case.<\/p>\n

The caseback has an engraving \u201cGregory Brooks Metzcar\u201d. We left it, as for us it\u2019s part of the history of the watch and we love vintage because they already have a history which the new owner becomes part off.<\/p>\n

Please also take a look at the caseback picture again. You can see clearly the fully intact \u201cblood gutter\u201d as we vintage collectors call it and that is another fact for a top case.<\/p>\n

The highlight of the watch is for sure the dial. It\u2019s a perfect preserved Maxi MK1 dial. It\u2019s the most demanded dial when it comes to 5512 and with this one it just ticks all the boxes. Perfect clear print and a patina of the lume to die for. According to the manufacturing date of the case this dial may be installed to the watch during a service in the late 70s. It\u2019s also an option that the watch didn\u2019t leave Rolex for several years, and was therefore equipped with the current dial configuration when leaving the Rolex factory. The demand for 5512 Subs was not very high back in the days, as they were higher priced compared to 5513 models.<\/p>\n

The hands are in the same lovely condition as the dial.<\/p>\n

The plexi glass is a correct old t19 superdomed, the bezel is nice and sharp and the inlay is a later service one which we kept on the watch because it looks just wonderful.<\/p>\n

The 93150 oyster bracelet is in nice vintage condition. It shows light stretch, but wears perfectly. The clasp code is L9 for september 1987<\/p>\n

Conclusion: During my whole career i had three 5512. They are hard to find and if you can get one in this configuration you don\u2019t hesitate to buy it for your clients. <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
